SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP NANBPWC Inc. Spring 2012 Social Media Internship POSITION SUMMARY: The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc. (NANBPWC), a 77-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is looking for an energetic, web-savvy social media intern for a three month spring internship. We are looking for someone fluent in and excited about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube and various other social media platforms. INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in the development and execution of a social media marketing plan.
- Create, maintain, and manage a posting/maintenance schedule for all social media platforms.
- Create and edit copy and content for all platforms.
- Recommend and build organizational presence on additional social media sites.
- Measure the impact of social media efforts, such as percentage growth in followers, retweets, etc.
- Be the 'go to' person for all social media inquiries.
- Communicate directly with NANBPWC members, fans, followers and users.
- Research and explore new social media tools and products as they develop. Remain current and up-to-date on the global social media landscape.
- Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media.
- Occasionally perform routine office tasks.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships, both internally and externally, to foster partnerships, co-promotional relationships and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with NANBPWC staff to create an online voice that is true to the goals and personality of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Currently working toward a degree in public relations, marketing, communications or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with social media, social networks, and online communities.
- Must be internet savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must be able to compose attention-grabbing tweets and status updates.
- The ability to organize , prioritize and work independently is a must.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills (WRITING SAMPLE REQUIRED)
- Must possess a positive attitude, a high level of professionalism and a solid work ethic.
- Must live in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and be available to work 15-20 hours per week at our national headquarters.
